Emily Carr Grad Show 2013

DSC_0349.JPG

It's been a year since my graduation from Emily Carr's Communication Design program and time sure has flown by. I still remember my grad show vividly and all the stress and rush leading up to it.

The grad show still holds a special place in my heart as it shows the culmination of all the work you've put in (or not put in) for your final year at Emily Carr. So of course I was excited to check out the show and see what the next batch of upcoming Emily Carr grads had been working on.

I brought my good friend Tracy to check it out!

Good to see some collaboration in more projects this year. Love the setup here.

A very well presented project and the design is great. But this concept of a reusable container doesn't seem much different than what's out there now.

I am a big gamer myself, but I found this project not really design related at all...

Nice large type on the wall. Only three designers occupied this wall this year. There were more than 6 in my grad year.

Imagine a favella and all their roofs were made from tin cans...

I do enjoy how well everything is labeled this year in terms of signage and way finding at the show.

This grad show was quite different than the year before it. The students this time had the entire year to work on their grad project. Personally I think that is a bit too much time to focus on one project unless they were collaborating with another designer or partner (which actually a lot of the projects were).

Overall there were definitely some great quality projects! Congrats 2013 grads!
